I’ve always been drawn to exercise and working out, even as a little kid. Growing up in my parent’s house, I converted the guest bedroom into a home gym with mostly homemade equipment. I was a mediocre baseball player, but I trained like I had a chance at the big leagues! Exercise continued to be a big part of my life through high school and college, where I worked at a gym between classes. I discovered CrossFit around 2009 and instantly fell in love with the methodology. At first, I saw how running a clock on a workout completely changed the effect – a sense of urgency! The more I dug into CrossFit, the more I loved it. I quickly converted the garage into a gym and started inviting friends to join me. We opened our first affiliate in 2011 and operated it until 2017. After a brief break from CrossFit, I found my way back because I realized there just really is no better way to exercise. With a new mission and perspective, CF Comeback began in 2024.
We rediscovered CrossFit as a family when Erin came back from alcohol rehabilitation and began her recovery journey. CrossFit was not only a way for Erin to become healthy again but it was a way for our family bond to strengthen. After months of CF as a family, we felt that God had bigger plans for us and CrossFit – that’s the beginning of Comeback! We understood the mission that we were called to because we were living it out and we saw the impact that the combination of CrossFit and recovery can have.
My motivation for coaching is to serve and help others. There’s no better feeling than helping someone do something that they “knew” they could not do and then seeing the confidence that builds in them to continue moving forward. “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act” Proverbs 3:27
